SYRACUSE, N.Y. - John Lannan pitched a season-high eight innings, Xavier Paul came up a double short of a cycle and the Syracuse Chiefs won for the fourth time in five games with an 8-2 rout of Rochester on Friday.
Lannan allowed the two runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out four to even his record at 3-3. Paul hit a three-run homer for the second-straight day then added a triple and an RBI infield single but struck out in his final two at-bats.
The teams play again Saturday at 2:00. The game will be televised on Time Warner Cable Sports.
