Big East Commissioner stepping down
UNITED STATES -- The head of the Big East Conference is stepping down. Commissioner John Marinatto resigned Monday, after less than three years in the position.
The Big East lost several high-profile members under his watch, including Syracuse, Pittsburgh and West Virginia, all of which are in the process of switching conferences.
The Big East also added Central Florida, Houston, Memphis, SMU and Temple for all sports and Boise State, San Diego State and Navy for football only.
Marinatto said he is proud of what he's accomplished in his time as commissioner.
Former Miami Dolphins CEO Joseph Bailey III will serve as interim commissioner.
