ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY, N.Y. -- A new St. Lawrence County Emergency Services Director will soon be in place. Ogdensburg native Joseph Gilbert has accepted the position.

He'll fill the position left empty after the controversial departure of Marty Hassett, who was forced to resign after concerns were brought to the board regarding his performance.

Gilbert was a training coordinator at Fort Drum and has experience dealing with natural disasters. He will be appointed on May 7th and begin as the new Emergency Services Director the next day.
