ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Seven fire departments work together to put out a 12-acre brush fire near Annsville.
Saturday afternoon, firefighters were able to control the fire within a couple of hours, despite some parts of the burn being almost a mile from the nearest road. The fire did not reach any nearby homes, and crews on scene say the damage could have been worse.
Howard Roache, of the McConnellsville Fire Department said, “It means a lot, when you call mutual aid and they show up and help you out. Everybody got along today, did a great job."
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. But firefighters would like to remind people that the state-wide burn ban is still in effect until May 14th.
