TOMPKINS COUNTY, N.Y. -- Closing arguments are expected Friday in the Matthew Taranto trial.

The 29-year-old is charged with shooting his father to death in their Trumansburg home in November of 2010.

The defense called its final witnesses to the stand Thursday, including a forensic psychologist, who testified that he believed Matthew Taranto's claims of sexual abuse by his father are believable.

Since his arrest, Taranto's lawyer has claimed the shooting was an act of self defense, citing a history of violent behavior within the Taranto family.

The prosecution has repeatedly called Matthew Taranto's credibility into question.

Both sides will present closing arguments Friday.

This is a bench trial, which means a judge, not a jury, will make the decision in the case.
