OTSEGO COUNTY, N.Y. -- Otsego County Sheriff deputies say an eight-year-old was responsible for setting a fire at a mobile home park in the Town of Milford Sunday.

An investigation into the fire at the Shady Acres Trailer Park revealed that an eight-year-old girl set fire to leaves and pine needles behind a mobile home. It then spread to a couch that was back there and onto the home itself.

Five people were inside at the time, including one person who was inside the bedroom that was on fire.

The child and her father were issued an appearance ticket and referred to the Otsego County Family Court.
