BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- A group of Southern Tier businesses and individuals joined forces in 2009 with the mission of preserving one of Binghamton's landmark buildings: the Forum Theater. The group is continuing its effort and announced a new fundraising venture.
Friends of the Forum will be hosting a pre- and post-show event at the musical "South Pacific" on May 9th. Pre-show, guests can enjoy a wine tasting. Afterwards, they'll get to meet the cast.
The event, called "An Evening to Remember," costs $99 and includes the ticket to the show. Organizers said it’s a great way to enjoy the arts, while helping to keep the Forum preserved and up to date.
"Kids booster seats are no longer usable because of regulations. They are not fire retardant like they are supposed to be and of course we want them to be. So we are hoping to raise enough funds to bring in new booster seats," said Ron Sall, Friends of the Forum.
Last year, Friends of the Forum was able to raise more than $75,000 for forum renovations and upgrades through three different events.
