JEFFERSON COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Jefferson County woman was charged with custodial interference after she allegedly illegally took her child to the Ukraine in 2010. Sventlana Sorokina, 38, of Alexandria was arrested Sunday when she tried to re-enter the U.S.

Investigators said she took her eight-year-old son back to her hometown in the Ukraine despite a court order forbidding her from doing so.

She's being held at the Jefferson County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail. There's no word on the status of the child.
