UTICA, N.Y. -- The Focus Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Utica has improved enough to be taken off the state Health Department's list of troubled facilities.

Ownership changed at the facility about four months ago. The new owners have changed care programs and remodeled the facility based on the residents' opinions. They have instituted more recreational programs and new dining options.

"We've hired an executive chef, as well as we have a sous chef, to provide better food quality most of our things are made right from scratch and from local vendors," said Laurence Mennig, Focus Rehabilitation and Nursing Home.

The facility's residents said they're excited about all of the recent changes.
