ELMIRA, N.Y. -- Grove Park in Elmira may be getting some upgrades. The City Council will vote Monday night to apply for a grant for the park.
The grant is for more than $11,000. It would upgrade the playground equipment for toddlers from ages 2 to 5.
This is in addition to the Creative Healthy Places grant that would pay for park upgrades for older children.
"We're also looking at all the equipment that we have there. Some of it's outdated. Some of it's broken. Some of it hasn't been looked at in as many years as some of the other parks. So this is just a revamp and a revitalization of Grove," said Mayor Sue Skidmore.
The city has also sent out bids to rebuild Grove Park pavilion after it burned down in May 2010. They hope to start construction this year.
