ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The man accused in a fatal stabbing in Rome rejected a second plea deal offered to him in Oneida County Court on Monday. An attorney for Terrance Dames says the deal would have meant 25 years in prison for his client if he pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Dames is accused of stabbing Stephen LaPointe, 20, in the early morning hours of September 27th near the intersection of Lawrence and Depeyster Streets in Rome. He rejected an original deal proposed back in November and was offered a second deal after the judge and prosecutor for his case were switched.

Dames faces 25 years to life if convicted.
