ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Jurors in the Christian Patterson trial heard from a friend who talked with Patterson just before the standoff in which he allegedly shot and killed Oneida County Deputy Kurt Wyman.

Ernest Davenport testified in court Friday about text messages he received from Patterson's son on the evening of June 6th. Davenport says the texts made him worry for the safety of the teen and his mother, Patterson's longtime girlfriend.

Davenport says he called Patterson to find out what was going on and got a disturbing answer.

"He was locked and loaded," Davenport said.

"I'm locked and loaded?" an attorney asked.

"Yes," Davenport said.

"What else did he say?" the attorney asked.

"He just said that he wasn't going to go to jail and he wasn't leaving his house,” Davenport replied.

Davenport also testified during cross examination that the two sometimes hunted together and to his knowledge, Patterson wasn't a good shot.
