ITHACA, N.Y. -- Organizers estimated that nearly 4,000 people made their way to Ithaca College Saturday to take a stand in the fight against hydrofracking in New York State.
The "Epic No Frack Event" was organized by Jeff and Jodi {An-Dry-Sick} Andrysick - who brought in 48 speakers, 6 movies and 10 musicians to support their anti-fracking movement.
With the New York State moratorium on fracking ending in a few days, the goal of the event was to gain as much support for a ban as possible.
Activists say they are fighting for themselves and the state as a whole.
"The golden goose, for us, which is tourism. And the wineries, tourism, farming. We don't want to kill the golden goose just to get at this gas," Jeff Andrysick.
