JEFFERSON COUNTY, N.Y. -- Believe it or not, it won't be long before the college semester comes to an end and many of those students will be looking for a summer job.

The New York Sea Grant is offering a unique position that's aimed at promoting responsible uses of the Great Lakes ecosystems. It's called the Eastern Lake Ontario Dune and Salmon River Stewardship and Habitat program. Students can spend the summer outdoors helping conservation efforts and making people aware of what's going on.

"These students are going to be out there providing environmental education, providing information and doing some statistical work trying to define who's using the river and dune area, what they might be doing and how we as agencies and organizations can help them enjoy it in an environmentally sound way," said Dave White.

Interested applicants may email a cover letter and resume to Mary Penny of the New York Sea Grant at SUNY Oswego to mp357@cornell.edu.
