UTICA, N.Y. -- Woods, creeks and a whole lot of mud will take center stage in the newest 5K race set to hit Utica next year.
The campus of the Masonic Care Community will be the setting for "The Mighty Run," Central New York's first mud run. Teams who tackle the course won't just have to face the terrain surrounding the campus, they'll also have to get past 12 special obstacles along the way.
MCC says the run is based on its wellness initiative and is aimed at motivating people to get active.
"There are people that you can literally get off the couch, sign up and participate. It's not a race against the clock. It's to have fun, complete the course, enjoy yourself and enjoy Utica," said JP Kidwell, MCC's Director of Development.
The Mighty Run will be held on May 4 next year. You can begin signing up on August 1st, but space is limited.
