CORNING, N.Y. -- The Crystal City is polishing its best, getting ready for Glassfest. The Corning Museum of Glass kicked off the third annual event Thursday with a hot glass ribbon cutting.
Visitors can expect hot glass shows, flame competitions, light displays and live music.
Glassfest began three years ago, after Corning lost the LPGA tour. Since then, the festival has attracted thousands of visitors from all over the country and brought business to the city's Gaffer District.
Officials say hotels are already filled to capacity for the weekend-long event.
"Our businesses and the regional businesses love it. It's another regional event that brings people to town, keeps them in town, and they have a good time. It's their Memorial Day weekend times ten," said Gaffer District executive director Colleen Fabrizi.
Events continue through Sunday. For more information, head over to www.glassfest.org.
