BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. -- Renowned British adventurers Richard Harpham and Glenn Charles have chosen the Erie Canal for their latest adventure.

The pair is kayaking from Niagara Falls to the Statue of Liberty and on Monday, they docked at Louise Mercer Memorial Park in Baldwinsville.

They were invited by "I Love New York" to make the journey, which has been called "New York's Spare Seat Kayak Expedition."

Along the way, they've invited members of the public to join them for a portion of their journey as they chronicle the heritage and culture the Erie Canal has created. They say the best part has been the good people they've met along the way.

"Enterprising people, pioneering people, hospitable people and you just think to yourself, wow, there's just something very, very special about the Erie Canal, this corridor, the Finger Lakes. We've just got to experience the best of it. It's just absolutely amazing," Harpham said.

Harpham says their stop at the Women's Rights Museum in Seneca Falls was one of the most memorable stops so far.
