SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Playing its first game in more than a month, the top-ranked Syracuse women's lacrosse team could not keep up with No. 4 Maryland on Sunday as the Terrapins won 19-11 at the Carrier Dome.

Syracuse, ranked No. 1 in the national media poll and No. 2 in the coaches' poll, tied the game 6-6 late in the first half but Maryland scored the next five goals and did not look back.

Michell Tumolo had four goals and two assists and Alyssa Murray added three goals to lead SU (1-1), which has a much shorter wait for its next game this coming Sunday against No. 11/8 Virginia at the Dome.
