DEWITT, N.Y. - The nation's number one high school steeplechase runner resides right here in CNY. CBA senior Brendan Smith is considered the best in the country, and he's trying to keep his ranking on Saturday in North Carolina at the national track championships.

Smith only started running the steeplechase as a junior. He won the state title last weekend.
