ITHACA, NY-- The Cornell women needed three overtimes and eight goals to beat Boston University, but in doing so the squad advanced to their third straight Frozen Four.
Cornell fell behind three to nothing in the first period, but came roaring back to take a 4-3 lead with just 4:14 gone in the second period. All that scoring was a sign of things to come... until it wasn't.
BU tied the game eleven minutes later and the craziness started all over. A minute later the Big Red were back on top 5-4. They added two more to start the third period and led 7-4 with 13:38 to paly.
Then it was Boston's turn for a scoring barrage. The Terries scored 3 straight times in the last 11 minutes of regulation to tie the game at 7-7.
Then came more than an hour of game time with out a score from either team.
Fifty-four combined shots would be taken before another goal would be scored. Finally in the last twenty seconds of the third extra frame Lauriane Rougeau scored the game winner to send Lynah Rink into a frenzy and the Big Red into their third straight Frozen Four.
