Training Week 14: Elisabeth Berson
8/2/11: It's the final week to get a 'power work out' in, so I decide to find a moderately hilly course for my bike ride. Let me be the first to tell you; the distance between OCC and Marcellus is more accurately dubbed Ridiculously Hilly. Although challenging, it was a beautiful (did I say 'hilly!?') ride.
Most exciting on my little jaunt were two things: 1. I CAN make it up the 1.5 mile + uphill from Marcellus back towards OCC without stopping and 2. If you're traveling at a high rate of speed, going downhill on a narrow shoulder with oncoming traffic -it's best just to hit the roadkill head on and with confidence! (I lucked out that the unfortunate woodchuck (?) carcass I blasted over was in the 'dried out' stage of decomposition... No residual spray on the shins or calves... Phewf!).
8/3/11: It's amazingly humid and rainy, but I did the modified swim and run portion of the CNY Tri series and come in dead last on the run.
Somebody's gotta be the caboose and that day, it was me.
8/6/11: Open water swimming at Boater's Beach in Sandy Pond! It was great and good exercise but I realize I prefer buoys for reference points.
8/7/11: I do a hilly 3 mile jog. Again, it's humid today... (I'm really hoping 8/14/11 brings a break from the humidity).
I'm starting to get nervous but know I will get through it!
