SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Syracuse locals Lopez Lamong and Paul Ruggeri took their game to the next level as they competed in the 2012 Olympic trials.

Lamong finished third in the 5000 meter dash, qualifying for his second straight trip to the Olympics. Ruggeri, a gymnast, sits in ninth place at the end of day 1 of competition.
