CORTLAND, N.Y. - After blowing a three-goal lead in the second half, the West Genesee girls lacrosse team went on a 4-0 closing run to claim its sixth state championship with a 9-5 win over first-time finalist Penfield from Section V Saturday at SUNY Cortland.
Erica Geremia had four goals and an assist while Emily Tripodi racked up two goals and four assists to earn the Class A tournament MVP award.
West Genesee ends the season 20-1.
