ACA Memorial Park Fund passes $25,000

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- Donations are adding up for a memorial park in Binghamton. The committee for the ACA Memorial Park says it has surpassed $25,000 in donations. That's almost 20 percent of the cost of the project.
Donations have doubled since the committee released the design plans last month.
The memorial will be located at the corner of Front and Clinton streets and will include a fractured granite column, 13 scattered glass birds surrounding the memorial and a garden.
"We can't really break ground until we have enough funding to pay for most of the contracts necessary for construction. Optimistically, I'd like to think end of September or early October if we're going to finish construction this year, but it really depends on people's participation. The sooner we get the funds necessary, the sooner we can break ground and that's everybody's goal," said David Marsland, Memorial Park Fundraising Organizer.
