United Way accepting donations for ACA victims
VESTAL, N.Y. -- Organizations across the area have begun collecting money and donations for family members of the thirteen ACA shooting victims.

The United Way of Broome County is also pitching in and has set up a fund of its own. The director says the United Way is starting to take donations and hopes to set up a committee to oversee the fund by next week. While they need to work out the details, the United Way is looking to address intermediate to long-term needs.

"Maybe some long-term counseling, maybe for some on-going transportation needs. Maybe there's job search-needs, it could be any number of things," said Alan Hertel, Executive Director of the Broome United Way.

If you would like to make a donation, you can call the United Way offices in Vestal at (607) 729-2592.

Donations will be collected for about six months.
