BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- A congressmen who has served his district for two decades is taking a farewell tour, thanking his constituents.

Maurice Hinchey was first elected to Congress in 1992 and in January he will be leaving public service.

Hinchey's first stop was in Binghamton Monday morning. He talked to the citizens who put him in office, as well as city leaders he worked with for the past 20 years.

Hinchey reflected on his achievements and showed his gratitude.

"Proud to call you my friends and proud of what we have accomplished together," Hinchey said. "That's what we have done. We accomplished them together, and I thank you very much for all of that."

Hinchey's farewell tour will also take him to the Hudson Valley parts of his district before his term ends.
