"The flu shot clinic was canceled."

It's becoming a common problem.

"This is my third try. Every place I go, they're canceled," said John Paille.

Those who want a seasonal flu shot can't get it.

"I've tried my doctor's office, some of the drug stores, nothing. Nobody wants to shoot me up," said Anne Putnam.

Flu clinics across Upstate New York have been canceled or rescheduled because of short supply.

"For at least 15 years, I've been getting the standard flu shot. And I'd like to get it. Don't want to get sick this winter," said Paille.

"I certainly can emphasize with people who are frustrated, annoyed, angry," said John Ricci of the Monroe County Health Department.

Local health officials say this shortage is unusual because seasonal vaccine production started three weeks ahead of schedule. While there's been a greater focus on the H1N1 vaccine, Ricci said the manufacturing companies assured the CDC they could handle the demand.

"What's unclear and what we're trying to ascertain is this is a real shortage or is there more in the pipeline and just hasn't gotten to us yet?" asked Ricci.

The best advice is to keep an eye out for the next clinic and check with your doctor.

In the meantime, those who want the vaccine have no other choice but to be patient.

"I'll just come on the next day that's posted. That's all I can do," said Paille.
