SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Girls from grades seven through twelve got a chance to learn a little something about the field of engineering Thursday during Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day.
The event, which was hosted at Syracuse University, gave students a chance to talk to experienced professionals about the field and tested their knowledge of engineering with a game of Jeopardy.
"Today through Jeopardy, they did learn a lot about the local firms. We have dealt with some of the local firms within our organization as well. So they know a little bit more about them and what they entail and what type of jobs they can get out there with these firms," said Gwendlyn Raeford, a science teacher at G.W. Fowler High School.
Introduce a Girl to Engineering is a national movement that shows girls how creative and collaborative engineering is.
