SI Swimsuit 2012

It's the Sports Illustrated issue that even non-sports fans often times rush out to buy -- the annual Swimsuit Edition. And following with what's become something of a tradition, the Swimsuit Edition app offers more and more content and innovation than last year's.

On the content side there are more than 150 photos organized by location or by model, some are even panoramic shots. Plus there is more than two hours of video from the highly produced stuff to behind-the-scenes footage. The big innovation this year comes in the body paint section where you can virtually grab the model and spin her around to get a full 360-degree view. The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2012 app is for iOS devices. It's free for subscribers to the magazine and free if you want a sample. For all the content though, it's $6.99 through an in-app purchase.

XBox Companion

One of the big advantages for Windows Phone owners is if you're a gamer with an XBox 360 the phone works in several ways with your gamer profile. Well now, thanks to an app called XBox Companion, the phone also works directly with your XBox now.

As long as you enable your XBox to accept the XBox Companion, you can view all the content that's on your console on your phone. On top of that, you can hit a button on the phone that turns it into a remote for the XBox so that you can scroll through your menus that way. And if you pull up say a video on your phone that you want to view on the big TV you can just have it play through the XBox. XBox Companion is a free app for Windows Phones.
