While it’s typical for retail stores to clear out their inventory in the summer, it’s becoming more common for destinations around the country to offer wide-ranging discounts, putting certain cities and even entire states on sale.

Manhattan is one of those places that is easier on the wallet in the summer. New York’s restaurant week takes place mid-July to mid-August, while its “Signature Collection” of hotels - the swankiest in the city - offer a third night free from late June through Labor Day. What’s more, New York City Summer coupons offer 20 percent discounts and added values on an array of tourism experiences through September 30.

Florida loses a bit of its Vitamin D appeal in the summer when it is eclipsed by the sun quotient in other parts of the country, but that means you will find lower rates around the sunshine state, particularly in Orlando. May/June can be one of the best times of the year to visit the theme park mecca. Visitors can instantly save $100 on an Orlando vacation with the promo code: FIRST100 at VisitOrlando.com/first.

Among the deals in close by Tampa Bay feature free passes to the new LEGOLAND Florida with a stay at Embassy Suites.

Favorable summer rates can also be found in the laid-back Florida Keys.

Out West, Scottsdale, Arizona is even more smokin’ hot this summer with rooms discounted up to 60 percent off high-season rates. The Scottsdale Convention & Visitor Bureau’s website lists “100 Days, 100 Ways to Save" With free attractions, activities, restaurants credits, and other deals from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
