OGDENSBURG, N.Y. -- Progress is being made in the revitalization of downtown Ogdensburg's riverfront footbridge.

The Lake Street pedestrian bridge stretches nearly 400 feet across the Oswegatchie River. It will link the downtown area with the marina district, which has been an eyesore for residents for years. The bridge will also link the river trail system through the area and house new piping that will carry water and sewer across the river.

The nearly $2.5 million project still needs touch up work, like lighting and landscaping, but everyone is getting excited by the development.

“The cost of it was paid for mainly with some grant funding from a federal grant, but it’s a key component to the revitalization, especially the marina district and our downtown,” said Ogdensburg City Councilman William Hosmer.

The project should be finished by August.
