New marina opens in Ogdensburg

For about six years, boaters didn't have a place to fill their tanks in Ogdensburg. But that problem is resolved now that the new Hosmer's marina gas pump is open for service. Our Cara Thomas was in Ogdensburg and has more on Bill Hosmer's future plans for the marina.

OGDENSBURG, N.Y. -- It took six years, but now boaters on the St. Lawrence River have somewhere to fill their tanks while passing through Ogdensburg.

Hosmer's Marina gas pump is open for business and boaters are already lining up. They're not done though. Over the next few days, they'll be installing docks and boat slips to prepare for the busy Memorial Day weekend.

Owner Bill Hosmer says he's been waiting to open the marina for five years and is excited the day is finally here.

"Our future is our waterfront. Without providing gas and services to our boaters, dock space for our voters. Ogdensburg doesn't have a way to use that waterfront." Hosmer said.

Hosmer's bait, tackle and convenience shop is expected to open by Memorial Day and he hopes to open a new waterfront cafe and tavern, called Smugglers, by June.
