DELAWARE COUNTY, N.Y. -- A black bear is returned to Delaware County after wandering into a neighborhood in the Capital Region. DEC officials released the bear into the woods in the town of Andes Friday.
Cameras were rolling Thursday night when officers used tranquilizer darts to remove the bear from a tree in the backyard of a home in Schenectady.
DEC officials say the recent warm weather has dried up the natural food supply normally found in the forest, forcing bears into more residential areas.
Despite falling at least 40 feet, officials say the bear is doing just fine.
