BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- Rain couldn't keep people away from a very special run on Sunday.
Almost 200 people signed up for the Flood Relief 5K Run and Walk at the Ann G. McGuinness Intermediate School in Endicott. The event was $20 per person and $30 for two or more people from the same family. Children under 12 were free. The race will raise money for rebuilding supplies such as wall-board, mud and nails, among other things.
Organizers said they were happy with the day's turnout, but not surprised.
Jamie Scott, Event Organizer said, “This area, the West Corners area of Endicott was hit hard from the floods. To have it at a place that people can see they're helping is great. This area is one that needs a lot of help, so I think that had to do with the numbers. They toughed it out."
Organizers said they hope to raise about $3,500.
