CHEMUNG COUNTY, N.Y. -- The man who pleaded guilty to manslaughter for killing a girl in a meth lab explosion will spend two to six years in state prison.
Gary Varlan, 52, was sentenced in Chemung County Court Thursday morning. The explosion killed 20-year-old Kanisha Wood last May.
A second man who also played a role in the explosion, Brion Peters, was previously convicted. A jury found him guilty of manslaughter and unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine.
