BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- Broome County is partnering with Local Health organizations to encourage residents to make healthy choices to improve their lives.
With the blast of unseasonably warm weather, Broome County Executive Debbie Preston joined representatives from United Health Services and Lourdes to announce the opening of County Parks.
Preston has partnered up with Shape Up America, and is motivating people to try to walk ten thousand steps a day.
With temps reaching into the 60s and 70s, the County Executive hopes people will make use of the county's parks for some of those steps.
"We have in Broome County 9 beautiful Parks. Nearly three thousand acres of land and there's miles of trails for walking and jogging. We offer more here in Broome County than other counties and many would think that our parks are actually state parks," said Broome County Executive Debbie Preston.
Medical Professionals say just a few minutes of exercise a day can have profound effects on health and self esteem.
