UTICA, N.Y. -- A fire that sparked in a Utica boarding house Tuesday morning was quickly extinguished, thanks in part to some very conveniently located neighbors.
Fire officials said it only took about 15 minutes to put out the fire at 1605 Whitesboro Street. That's partly because the home is located right across from the fire station on the corner of Whitesboro and Cherry streets.
Crews used chainsaws to get at the flames, which were inside the walls between the first and second floor.
Everyone inside was able to get out safety.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
