LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. -- State Police have released the name of the man found dead on Herkimer County farmland Tuesday.

Police say 74-year-old Francis Nelson of Loomis Street in Little Falls was found dead around 8:30 Tuesday morning along Eatonville Road.

A farmer noticed Nelson's car parked on the road on his land. When he investigated, he found Nelson lying in a wooded area to the side of the car. Police say his family last spoke to him around 7 p.m. Monday.

No cause of death has been released.

"The State Police are investigating this as a suspicious death at this time. Anyone with any further information is urged to contact the New York State Police," said Mark Lincoln, captain of NYSP Troop D's Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

The number to call to report any information on the death of Francis Nelson is (315) 366-6000.
