WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- Community members lined the streets in Watertown Saturday, celebrating our Armed Forces.

The annual Armed Forces Day parade marched down Washington featuring everything from marching bands and community organizations and many Fort Drum Soldiers. Local leaders watched from the grandstand, while many veterans looked on from the crowd.

Many said watching this parade and showing support for our troops is part of what makes the North Country and Fort Drum such a special community.

Maria Moustrouphis, Watertown resident said, “It seems like the community is extremely supportive of Fort Drum, which is awesome to see because never being part of a military community, this is awesome to watch and be part of."

Gary Young, Watertown resident said, “As a community and as people we're behind them. We're still supporting them, we haven't forgotten them."

The parade is an Operation Yellow Ribbon event and is sponsored by several Fort Drum and community organizations.
