CICERO, N.Y. -- Congresswoman Ann Marie Buerkle is joined by House Speaker John Boehner for a fundraiser at a private home in Cicero. A group of protestors was on hand for Buerkle's visit on Saturday, but they were kept down the street by police.
The Republican faces a rematch with Democrat Dan Maffei this fall for the 24th district seat, along with Green Party candidate, Ursula Rozum. The protestors claim that Buerkle's positions are extreme, and that she does not represent the interests of Central New York.
"You would normally never see this kind of thing in an election year, unless there were serious concerns about the positions of our local representative," said Richard Zalewski, protestor.
We caught up with Representative Buerkle later on, and she had no comment on the protest.
