SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Five different individuals were recognized Sunday night at Peace Action of Central New York's Annual Peace Awards. The men and women are from a variety of backgrounds and community groups, but organizers said each one works to help build a more peaceful existence, including Tim Judson, an anti-nuclear activist.

"They're giving me an award tonight really in recognition of the work that I've done to help keep this issue in the forefront of people's minds in Central New York and to help transition our community away from dirty and dangerous sources of energy like nuclear power," said Judson.

Peace Action of Central New York supports a variety of causes, but one of their primary ones has been an effort to shut down nuclear plants throughout the country, including the three facilities located in Oswego County.
