Time Warner Cable hosts students for a day of work
EAST SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- It's safe to say that teenagers like to watch TV, surf the internet and talk on the phone. Now students from the Central Square District are learning about how these fun activities come from.
More than 30 students joined employees at Time Warner Cable Wednesday for a day of work. The teens visited different stations, figuring out how signals are transmitted from satellites to their own homes.
Officials at the company think it's important for kids to learn these types of skills.
"Things like science, engineering, and technology skills are critical to our future and therefore to their success and to bring them in to an environment where they can work through some different programs, have some hands on experience and see how those types of skills will help,” said Henry Pearl, Regional Operations Vice President.
Time Warner Cable is the parent company of YNN and we are committed to The Connect a Million Minds program inspiring youth to develop science, technology, engineering and math skills. For more information on the initiative, go to connectamillionminds.com.
