Man pleads guilty to vehicular assault
ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Waterville man has pleaded guilty to vehicular assault, admitting to moving his injured passenger into the driver's seat of his car after drinking and getting into a crash.
Travis Maurine, 25, admitted he was drunk when crashed his car in Westmoreland back in December of 2010. Police say he moved his injured girlfriend, Kate Rizzo, from the passenger seat into the driver's seat after the crash and told police she was the one who was driving when the car slammed into another vehicle.
As part of the plea deal, he faces six months behind bars, five years probation and a suspension of his license.
